Scenelet is operated by Evgeny Ruban, an individual developer. This Privacy Policy explains what information Scenelet collects, how it is used, and how you can request access, correction, export, or deletion.

2. What Scenelet does
Scenelet helps you capture text from real scenes, screenshots, photos, signs, slides, or other everyday text, recognize the text with OCR, translate it, and save personal language-learning cards.
3. Information we collect
Local app content
Your phrase cards may include source text, translations, review state, tags, settings, and optional reference images. Scenelet is designed to work local-first. Local-only content remains on your device unless you choose a feature that sends it to Scenelet services or Apple iCloud services, such as backup, sync, OCR, translation, image upload, or eligible iCloud sync.
Account information
You can use Scenelet as a guest. If you choose Apple or Google sign-in for backup or sync, we may receive provider identifiers and, depending on what the provider shares, your email address, display name, and profile image.
OCR, translation, and sync data
When you ask Scenelet to process or sync content, the app may send selected images, OCR text, translations, card metadata, language settings, pending-capture retry state, and related media to Scenelet backend services so the requested feature can work.
If you are signed in and use an eligible iCloud sync feature, Scenelet may also store phrase cards, study presets, and related sync metadata in your private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit services. Your Apple ID, iCloud settings, storage availability, and Apple's iCloud terms and privacy practices apply to that processing.
Product analytics
Scenelet may collect first-party product events such as capture started, translation completed, card saved, review completed, sync completed or failed, account connected, quota reached, offline capture queued or retried, App Store review prompt eligibility or attempt, paywall views, purchase status, and feedback actions. These events are designed not to include your OCR text, translations, photos, phrase-card content, typed tags, email, display name, auth tokens, StoreKit signed transaction payloads, star ratings, Apple review prompt outcomes, feedback message text, image paths, filenames, or raw sensitive errors.
If you use learning reminders, analytics may also record limited events such as whether a notification permission explanation was shown, permission status, reminder mode, scheduled time bucket, approximate due-card count bucket, reminder stage, notification action, snooze, auto-pause, and whether a review was started or completed after a notification. These events do not include phrase text, translations, images, notes, tags, source URLs, or notification content derived from your cards.
Notifications and device registration
Learning reminders, draft reminders, and batch-completion reminders are normally calculated and scheduled locally on your device. Scenelet stores your reminder preferences and scheduling state locally and asks for notification permission through iOS. Notification titles, bodies, attachments, and routing data are designed not to contain phrase text, translations, images, notes, tags, filenames, or source details.
Lifecycle email and communication preferences
If you sign in with an account that has an email address, Scenelet may send limited welcome, learning-step, progress, or reactivation email in the language selected in the app. Scenelet stores your app language, separate lifecycle, marketing, and weekly-summary choices, the source and version of each choice, and timestamps for granting or withdrawing it. Marketing and weekly summaries remain off unless you choose them.
For delivery and abuse prevention, Scenelet and its email provider may process a message identifier, template, language, send and delivery state, bounce, complaint, unsubscribe, and a privacy-safe link click. Scenelet does not use tracking pixels or collect email-open data. Link identifiers do not contain your email address or learning content, and conversion analytics do not include phrase text, translations, photos, notes, or tags.
If you are signed in and service notifications are made available, Scenelet may register an Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device token with Scenelet services. The registration may include an app-level device identifier, APNs environment, locale, whether service push is enabled, update time, and last service-notification time. The APNs token is encrypted at rest and a one-way token hash is used to prevent duplicate registrations. Service notifications are limited to account, security, backup, or sync conditions and are not used to include your phrase-card content or for advertising.
Purchases and entitlement data
If you buy a subscription or lifetime access through the App Store, Apple processes billing, payment method, renewal, cancellation, and refund information. Scenelet may receive and store limited purchase and entitlement metadata such as product identifier, subscription or lifetime access status, transaction status, original transaction identifier, environment, and related timestamps so paid features, limits, restore, and support requests can be handled. Scenelet does not receive your full payment card details.
Feedback and support messages
If you contact support, send feedback, or make a privacy request, we may process the email address and message content you choose to send so we can respond.
Crash and diagnostics data
Scenelet may use Sentry or similar diagnostics tools to understand crashes and reliability issues. Diagnostics are configured to avoid user content and unnecessary personal data. Screenshots, view hierarchy attachments, network breadcrumbs, request bodies, user context, and extra payloads are not intentionally sent.
4. Information we do not collect for advertising
Scenelet does not use the Apple advertising identifier (IDFA), does not use advertising SDKs, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell your personal information.
5. How we use information
- To provide OCR, translation, phrase-card storage, backup, iCloud sync, and retry flows.
- To authenticate guest, Apple, or Google sessions.
- To apply usage limits, paid entitlements, and account recovery.
- To schedule learning reminders and handle notification actions you choose.
- To deliver optional account, security, backup, or sync service notifications.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug service issues.
- To understand product health using privacy-limited analytics.
- To respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests.
6. Service providers
Scenelet may rely on infrastructure, authentication, OCR, translation, analytics, dashboard aggregation, crash reporting, support email, iCloud/CloudKit, and App Store providers. These providers process information only as needed for the relevant feature or service. Current or expected providers may include Apple, Google, hosting providers, OCR providers, translation providers, Sentry, App Store Connect, CloudKit, Apple Push Notification service (APNs), and Postmark for email delivery.
7. Retention
Local-only content stays on your device until you delete it or delete the app. Synced account data is kept while your account is active. iCloud-synced data is also subject to your iCloud account settings and Apple's storage controls. When you delete your Scenelet account, Scenelet deletes or anonymizes associated personal data unless limited retention is required for security, abuse-prevention, operational, or legal reasons.
Local notification preferences and reminder history remain on your device until reset, removed by the app, or removed when the app is deleted. A registered APNs device record is kept while it remains associated with an active account and may be refreshed, replaced, or removed when it is no longer needed. It is deleted when the associated Scenelet account is deleted, subject to limited security, operational, or legal retention.
Email message and delivery records are retained only as needed to operate communication preferences, enforce frequency limits, handle bounces or complaints, measure privacy-safe outcomes, and meet security or legal obligations. Suppression records may be retained longer so a withdrawn address is not contacted again by mistake.
8. Your choices and rights
You may use Scenelet as a guest, avoid backup/sync, disable or avoid iCloud sync where available, delete phrase cards in the app, delete your remote account in the app, manage your App Store subscription in your Apple account settings, or contact us to request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal data.
You can turn learning reminders off, change their schedule, pause them, disable sound, choose whether the current device should remind you, or manage Scenelet notification permission in iOS Settings. Disabling notifications does not prevent you from using Scenelet.
You can manage lifecycle, marketing, and weekly-summary email choices in Scenelet settings. Every eligible email also includes an unsubscribe link; opening the page does not change anything until you explicitly confirm. Account-critical or security communication may be handled separately where necessary to provide or protect your account.

9. Children
Scenelet is designed so the core app can be used without creating an Apple or Google account. Scenelet is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children where parental consent is required. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will review the request.
10. International processing
Scenelet services and providers may process information in countries other than where you live. We use service providers and operational controls intended to protect information during that processing.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as Scenelet changes. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
